Bob Batchelor’s article talks about how hip hop has evolved from groups like the sugar hill gang into what it was in the 90s. He notes specific artists like NWA Tupac and Jay z for specific examples. These names will all be pivotal to our wiki article as many of these played a specific role in the east vs. west battle



Denise Herd’s article talks specifically about the violent influence that hip hop and rap have on todays youth. The 1990s were when the artists of the hip hop genre really started to ramp it up. These articles talk specifically about the rivalry between east and west in the 1990s and that is what my project is about.

Cathrine R Squires article also goes over the issue of violence in todays youth and talks about how big of an influence the rap community has on todays youth. Especially among young African americans. This article is almost the same as Herd’s so I will use specific examples.
