Multimodality is the thought process that one medium can possibly be more effective in presenting the information at hand. For example, if someone wanted to present their research on molecular biology the best form of doing so would be a research paper.  In the video, it is stated many times that a factor in multimodality is how it is perceived to the person presenting it. Considering the person is the one who gathered the information they would need to feel that the medium that they choose to present their information is the best possible. Multimodality is about maximizing the possibility to use your medium in the most meaningful way. Modes are different subcategories of multimodality; textual, aural, or visual resources. Kress emphasizes the importance of maximizing space and using it in the most meaningful way. He continually explains that by using your space in the most meaningful way, you can maximize how your information is received. He speaks about placement of information and order quite often, stating that information more important than others needs to be placed in a certain way. In other words logistics.
