As we begin to look at multimodality the first thing that must be observed is what a mode is. From what it sounds like in the reading and video all a mode really is perceived as what would be the best way to convey someone’s message onto another person. This leads to multimodality which shown by the name leads us to see that this is a form or combination of modes in order to communicate a message or allow someone else an understanding of what another person is trying to say. While there is many ways to communicate data there is also obviously many forms in which someone could think of multimodality. One of the ways that Wysock thinks that multimodality could be the most important is by spacing. Wysock believes that a person must question why something is there on a page if they were to be reading for example. Wysock describes this as being able to address the unquestionable practice. In Wysock’s essay from what I understand, it appeared like spacing would have had to be the most important factor no matter what with language or reading because it all depends on the space between the words. Kress however believes that the best form of multimodality depends on the timing of what has occurred in the past and what is going to occur. This allows whatever is trying to be communicated the easiest form of understandment possible. Then at the end Wysock says he want to see what is lost in communication but if the message is received then shouldn’t it have been a success.
