blog post 2
Throughout class last Wednesday I had no idea what I was going to do my project on. I was so confused on the assignment until the end of class when it all hit me. I came up with what I think are some great ideas to do my genealogy project on. Being that my favorite books of all time are The Great Gatsby, Jake reinvented, Anthem, and The Giver, I figured I could do my project on the links between either The Great Gatsby and Jake reinvented or the links between Anthem and The Giver. My junior year in high school was when I first read Jake reinvented and The Great Gatsby. My teacher made us read Jake reinvented first as an introduction to The Great Gatsby. Jake reinvemted is essentially a more modern and easier to understand version of The Great Gatsby. It's about a nobody teenager who reinvents himself with money and moves to a new town and becomes the most popular kid at his school. Jake throws the craziest and funnest parties anyone has ever attended. The Great Gatsby is a throwback and more mature version of Jake reinvented. Gatsby used money to reinvent himself in the 1920's and becomes the richest and most admirable guy in his town. He as eel throws the craziest and funnest parties anyone has every attended. However, Jake and Gatsby have more than just their life styles in common. They both have a sketchy background story that no one really knows and it keeps you guessing throughout both books. Anthem and The Giver are both stories about the future world where there is a council that dictates everything and the citizens are unaware of the past life. They live their life without question and with assigned jobs and families. This would be interesting because I could trace back and see what other books and stories are about the unknown, future world and how they all connect.
