Blog 2

One idea I had for the genealogy project was to start off with a song by Michael Jackson called “Human Nature.” I have not yet done research on the song to trace what other songs have used the same lyrics or music, but I do know from experience that Chris Brown used the same music in his song called “She Ain’t You” in 2011. Being the icon that he is I’m sure I will find another artist who used Michael Jackson’s original in a song of their own. The approach I might take with this idea is to go into how Michael Jackson was an inspiration to a vast majority of other artists, some of whose names you may or may not be familiar with. People grew up listening to MJ and aspiring to be like him, so it makes sense that his songs have been remixed or used by plenty of others. Not to be limited to just performers like himself but also musicians, songwriters, and composers. Another idea I had in mind is to use Michael Jackson himself as my genealogy project. He is known as the King of Pop culture and the greatest entertainer of his time. As I mentioned before many people have been and are still being inspired by his music. Choosing one of his songs and trying to find remixes may limit the amount of sources available. Writing about him and what he produced as a whole, however, will give me a plethora of remixes to work with and choose from.
