In the reading Richard presents the concept that words are presented in different meanings. Words can be interpreted and judged wrong.  Quoting Richard words can be judged as to whether it is good, bad correct, or incorrect. Take for example how sick can be interpreted in two ways. If someone is ill you would say that the person is sick because he is displaying flu like symptoms. In another sense more preferably in a slang term “sick” can be thought of in a good way. For example your friend makes an awesome hang ten on the rails and you praise him by saying his actions where “sick”. It all depends on how the author presents his writing so the reader can grasp his idea and understand his text.

Richard also explains in his article how symbolism can be misinterpreted. For example before Hitler took over his rein in power as a dictator and uses the flag to represent his cult. The Nazi flag was once known as a symbol of peace. Of course now whenever we see it we understand that it stands for the Arian race.  But how easily we can be fooled by the symbol. That is what Richard is trying to get across in his excerpt.

This article is a remix because we redefine our words over time. For example our English system hs been remix a number of times since the 1600’s. To compare how we perceive English to people of the old times can be very confusing.
