For my remediation project, I think I'm pretty set on having my audience being those in my similar age group which is from about 16-20, 21-25, or 30-45. I chose these age groups because I believe my  genealogy hits point that could relate to the feminist movement that is become a big deal within the community of ages between 16 and 25. And with the ages 30-45 it's in relation to parents who might not understand the context of Anaconda, so a remediation would allow me to break down to those who would have a harder time understanding the vulgarity of the lyrics. Currently, I am thinking about making a blog that represents all that Anaconda represents through the website, Tumblr.com. I choose tumblr because it is very popular amongst those in the age group 16- 25, it would be an easier way for people to understand the concept through pictures, videos, and quotes rather then an extensive essay. Also, in my opinion its a fun way to emphasize how others feel regarding the topic. For my older age group, Im not quite sure what i would want to do to get the idea across to them. Some type of presentation seems logical such as a prezi or basic powerpoint, but thats not as entertaining.

My genealogy traces the lineage of “A Christmas Carol” by Charles Dickens. I would like for my remediation to be very visual because one of the biggest topics in my genealogy is the portrayal of the characters in the three renditions. One potential idea would be a PowerPoint presentation or a Prezi because I could incorporate many visual aspects into it. One intended audience might be people studying British literature because Dickens was an Englishman. An appropriate medium for this audience would be a short video or Prezi/PowerPoint. This might give them an insight or inspiration into their own studies. Another potential audience would be future 1102 students who will be doing this project. The best possible medium for this audience would be a power point presentation to truly show the visual elements. This could be beneficial because it could inspire them for their own genealogy. Anybody who is a fan of Dickens could also be a potential audience for this remediation, I would create either a PowerPoint or poster board diagram to show me remediation.

i did my genealogy on Cinderella and how it has changed an progressed over the years. for my remediation project i am really leaning toward an audience of elementary school kids because they would really be interested in Cinderella rather than an older crowd. I plan on either doing a childrens book or a posterboard, im not sure yet. another option would be to do a photo album for my parents to show them how the appearance of cinderella and all of the characters has changed. my last idea is to do a prezi for my friends.

There are many ways to remediate my genealogy of Zorro. I can either create a Zorro poster, or even make a video.  Initially, I began thinking of making a poster because I am visually inclined and I feel like I can connect a certain audience perfectly to that type of media. Then, I decided that I should do something with video instead, to even further the audiences’ connection to the media.

I would essentially target one of three audiences. The first audience alternative that I would target is children, specifically elementary school kids. An appropriate medium for those kids is video. I could recreate Zorro as a young child to allow the children to feel as if they experienced what the young Zorro experienced after watching my video. It will also be funny, or witty because it is meant for children.

My second audience alternative would be, specifically, teenage girls or Hopeless romantics. I would also create a video, but I would change my approach. In this instance, I would show the love life of Zorro, and how he would have to rescue the love of his life. This type of media would be great for this specific audience because it plays to their wants; they will fall deep within the movie, having a strong connection.

Lastly, my third audience would be, specifically, young/teen boys or action-seekers. In this case, I would turn the video that I create into an action film of Zorro. The film would be target to this audience because it will be full of action including the fights, the chases, and the escapes that Zorro goes through.

I wrote my genealogy essay on "The Great Gatsby." I traced it back in time to it's original roots. By this I mean I found the inspiration for the characters, plots, themes, etc. I also traced it forward in time and showed the multiple literate pieces it helped inspire such as "Jake Reinvented" and the other five Great Gatsby movies. For my remediation project I was thinking about doing a flow chart with pictures. By this I mean I show the original roots of the Great Gatsby and uses pictures and words to show the whole lineage of the story all the way up to the most recent Gatsby movie that was released in 2013. I would make little yet boxes and add a picture net to it show an example of the piece of literature I was talking about. Then I would add arrows ponintint to the next piece of literature that came in time. However, I also thought about doing a power point. I like this idea because it would be a more modern visual. I also thought about making a video of myself just explaining how the novel was inspired and how it influenced future work. For these ideas I could use a variety of audiences. Anyone from middle school kids to middle aged adults could understand a flow chart. However, a power point is more advanced and would be showed to teenagers and adults. If I made a video the audience could range from little kids to older adults.

The Remediation Project:

Remediation is the representation of one medium in another. With this in mind, in my project I’ll be using the storyline of The Wonderful Wizard of Oz by L. Frank Baum and all it’s remixes (The Wiz, The Muppets version, Wicked, Oz, the Great and Powerful, Lost, etc.), and transforming my first paper into another medium.

Idea # 1: Create a mock social media page

By this I mean, I’ll display the Wizard of Oz and it’s remix examples on a Facebook, Instagram, Twitter or MySpace page. I’ll make the main profile the original Wizard of Oz’s page and incorporate the remixes through friend requests, likes, tags, re-tweets, and comments. Using “social media” would be a very interesting way of demonstrating the many remixes.

Idea # 2: Create a photo album

Also, I can demonstrate the several remixes of The Wizard of Oz through a photo album. I’ll put it in chronological order from the original version through the present day examples. I’ll include photos, which indicate the similarities in each version and photos that indicate differences in the versions.

Idea # 3: Create a Prezi or Power point

This idea will allow me to present the several different remixes through an online prezi or power point. In this idea, I’ll be sure to include pictures (which will point out the differences and similarities between each version), film clips, and music. All of these elements are key to how the storyline has been developed over the years.

Blog Post 5 Grace Nelson

I did my genealogy essay on The Little Mermaid and how the Disney fairytale can be linked back to Greek Mythology.  I want my remediation project to incorporate some sort of time line, but don’t want my project to become a boring presentation of chronological events. I had an idea of using postcards to show the progression of The Little Mermaid over the course of history. For this project my audience would be some immortal pen pal considering that the postcard set would begin around ancient Greek times and span through to the present day. If the audience cannot be someone who would never exist in the real world, then maybe the postcards can be discovered by some historian or something? I don’t know how that would work. These postcards would be themed depending on their time period and give short blobs from the little mermaid herself to some pen pal including the major details of the genealogy.

My second idea would be to have an educational history of The Little Mermaid for young children. This could come in the form of a lesson plan for a first grade teacher who plans to teach her students about history using The Little Mermaid as the central unit of discussion. This  lesson plan would probably start at the beginning of mermaid history (Greek Mythology) and end after the Disney film. The lesson plan would be kid friendly and may include activities for students to do. I don’t know if that is stepping outside of the bounds of this project or not.

If all else fails I guess I could do a prezi. Just kidding, I think my third audience would be the lawyers of Disney. I could present the genealogy to them and argue that the Disney film is unoriginal. This would be a hard project because on the law jargon I would need to use considering my audience.
