What is writing?

Writing is a tool that humans have possessed for thousands of years. Used from writing down creation myths and stories from the earliest societies to keeping record of sales and debt. Writing is information and a very useful tool for us. To answer the question in its most simple form, writing is an arrangement of words to create a coherent sentence. We convey our information through writing, like sending a text or an email. But we also use writing as a means of self-expression. Authors who create masterpieces are expressing themselves in their writing, and all the people who buy these works are using writing as a form of entertainment.
A remix is something (could be anything that already exists) that has been re-done with a different twist by another person. Many times today we see remixes in the form of music. One artist will put out a song and another will add his or her own verse and personal touch to the already existing song. One could argue that remixes and writing have a connection because any piece of literature/writing is a just a remix of the arrangement of words that already exist in a language. If that were the case then every single piece of writing is a remix and not an original.

I expect that we will be writing a lot in this class obviously, but In this class I hope to learn new techniques to better my writing skills. I also hope to gain a new perspective on writing as a whole and hope that it can be an even more enjoyable process.
